Rocker panel repair + fraime Slider+air tank!!

Ok guys i didnt finish them like i had hoped today but i got a lot done.
i needed to repair my rocker panel so i was looking for ways to do that and i found one.

Now first i needed to cut away the old rotted rocker panel

once i had that done i knew i was doing rock sliders anyway so i stole a boat side idea and made a twist. i cut away on the natural body line of the 4runner and it made a great point for a slider and a permanent repair of my rust

once i had it in place i knew i was going to cap them anyway to make it look nice and then it hit me if i cap it really good i can seal it and use it for a air tank. i used the 3x2 1/8th wall tube because it could take a beating got lucky and it will hold a good amount of air also, i wanted to replace my old airtank seen here
Once i had the form cut out to match my body lines i wanted it was time to seal them off and cap it shut.

Those should hold up nicely.

Are you welding the tube to the body AND the frame?
You can do one or the other, not both. The body will, and needs to, move on the frame.

now the shot from under the car shows the pinch rail mine is not nice and straight once i weld in the top i can pound the pinch rail flat on the new slider so i can weld the pinch rail to the slider thus completing the rocker repair. then i will run the gusset to the frame in 4 points.

Did you steal the boat sides from FrigginXJ on pirate? No big deal if you did, he did some awesome work on his buggy! Anyways, I'm interested to see more progress! Do you think that the 1/8 wall would be strong enough to take a beating and still hold air? Good work regardless! MOAR!!!

the amount of flex between the body and the frame is minimal in the center section of the body.but no i will not be welding it to the body beacuse i wont need to in my case.
64 inches long 3x2 rough math puts it at about 2.4 gallons x2 so almost 5 gallons of capacity maybe less but still more then enough.
most guys only go 3 gallons

A lot of 1st gen Blazer guys make huge rock sliders to replace their rust. Looks really good. I've never taken a sawzall to my Runner. Gotta be a scary feeling. Arizona sucks in the summertime, but noooo rust. It can't survive in this heat, not enough water to feed it!
