Alpine stereo system trouble?

hey guys so i've been having a little bit of an issue with my stereo system lately and was just wondering if anyone else has had any of the same problems or knows any possible ways of fixing it. anyways! i have an alpine CDE-121 cd player installed in my 94 runner and it works fine when you're just listening to the radio on an am or fm station, but as soon as you put in a cd or plug an ipod into it it only plays out of the tweeters up by the windshield. anybody got any idea what could cause that or any possible ideas of a way to fix it?
