Help fuel/gas door lock

Hello
Just bought my first 1gen 4runner and got it back with a blown head gasket

Went to put fuel in it and the keys won't open the fuel/gas door,
Any ideas how to fix this or get it open without the rite key.

Was going to go to the dealership and give them my vin to see if they my cut a key since all I got were copy keys and not an original but wanted to see if there was some tips or tricks to remedy this before I drop stealership money

Have you tried the release knob on the bottom of the dash by your left leg?

Ok, look and see if you have a cable that is under your dash where this handle should be. Maybe it got taken off. Also are your interior panels on or off? If off look and see if you see the cable in the right rear panel that goes into the cavity for the filler neck.

Maybe this handle was an option. I don't know. I'm sure someone with more knowledge that I will let you know. Im just wondering the the OP ever got into his. I noticed no reply from him.
