22re clutch chatter

Hey guys, I just installed my freshly built 22re. Had some issues with it but worked all the small things out. I was driving it around for a few days with no problems. Then one day as i had it idling on a slanted driveway i went to move it into the garage and as i pushed the clutch in it made a weird chattering noise. The motor's rpms dropped a bit i was able to get it into gear but this noise sounds horrible. Any idea what it could be before i drop the tranny? Heres a clip of the noise 22re clutch chatter - YouTube

it makes that noise when you push the clutch?

sounds like the throwout/release bearing is bad.

Did you replace the clutch when you rebuilt the motor?

did the throwout bearing come with the carrier? or did you have to press the old one off, and new on one?

i ask, because i just replaced a clutch in a nissan. all the parts were new, but someone put the throwout bearing on BACKWARDS, and wiped it out. damaging the disc on the way...

When installing the throw out bearing The rounded side of the bearing faces the pressure plate and the flate side faces the clutch collar correct?

Little update, long overdue. Figured I should incase someone stumbles upon this same problem. Turns out the older style throwout bearing that pushes onto the collar is held on by two clips. One of the clips came off. So when the clutch fork was pressed by the slave cylinder it did not apply even pressure onto the pressure plate. Therefore it did not engage or let me shift gears. I upgraded to the 89-95 release bearing/throwout bearing. It has a one piece clip. Haven't had any problems since.

New style throwout bearing with one piece clip
