275/70/17 or 275/75/17 on IFS

My 1989 is presently equipped with 1.5” BJ spacers, 6” shackles, 1” diff drop, and rolling on 2016 Trail Premium 17” wheels wrapped in BFG MT 255/76/17 off a buddy’s Rubicon. When these tires wear out, I’d like to go slightly larger to a 275/70/17 or 275/75/17. Any likely issues with my current suspension setup?

I’d rather not get into a body lift, as I already have welded Marlin Crawler rock sliders and don’t want to create a weird gap between them and the body.

I tried the advanced search function, but get zero hits for short character strings like tire sizes.

Hi, i have a quick question about a suspension lift i'm willing to buy from roughtrax.

2 new shocks front
2 new torsion bars
2 new shocks rear
2 new coil springs rear

All with a 2" lift but something tells me i should get some ball joint spacers as well?

link: FULL 2 INCH SUSPENSION LIFT KIT WITH MONROE SHOCKS

We don't visit heavy off road tracks. This is for our family/holiday 'RTT-equipped' 2nd gen 4runner.

Exclamation

I'm completely new to lifts, and the truck I bought came with a 3" spacer lift installed. The ride is reeeeeally stiff and it feels like I'm going to get bucked out of it sometimes haha. I'm guessing this is because it is a spacer lift rather than a coilover lift right? On the bright side the previous owner had only recently installed it so it hasn't been riding this rough for very long. I'm probably going to lower it back to stock before too long. I assume my 235/75/R15s are stock enough to fit fine. Just wondering how other lifts ride on roads? Are they all pretty stiff or is there a lift type that keeps it smooth? I'm not in it for a huge lift since I want to use this as my daily driver but would consider a small lift if it wasn't sacrificing ride quality too much.

I was wondering the same thing. I just picked up a '91 yesterday. I'm putting on 31x10.5's tomorrow, but want to do an 2" lift as well. This will be my DD, so ride comfort is a consideration.

I wish I could weld. The Coastal gear looks nice. I could weld but i have no garage or yard and live on the second floor. My T4R is homeless and sleeps on the City streets. One of the first mods I made was a chain and lock for the hood, so I have safer storage for a few tools and spare keys and whatnot.

Did you get the 31s on yet? I'm also going to 31x10.5s pretty soon. From the door jamb code, it looks like I've got the taller 4.10 gears - shouldn't be too noticeable, right?

2nd Gen. 1991 4Runner: Sensen 1272, Moog CC255 Coil Springs, Daystar 1.25” Spacer

I put in Sensen 1272 Struts/Shocks with Moog CC255 Rear Coil Springs and Daystar 1.25” Spacers. The car rides well and I am very satisfied! No butt sag!

I’ve seen multiple reviews which remain unchanged after a few years, likely, meaning that they remain functional even after a few years.

I don’t do hardcore off-roading so this may be a different case for others but for daily driving and rare dirt travel for camping, I think these will serve you well.

I know that the best recommendation is “Bilstein! KYB! TOKICO! OEM!” But for the price ($64.49), I am VERY satisfied. Just my 2 Cents!

I have a question. I have an 89 runner that I bought with a 2” lift with 33s. I’m wanting to put 63” Chevy springs in the rear. Will that make my rear lift higher than the front? And will I need longer shocks?

My 84 came with a 3” block lift, I’m doin the 63” rear swap as I type this. After I see how much lift that gives me in the rear I am goin to pick up trail gear springs and front hanger kit for the front with the same amount of lift to level her up. I’m doin a lot of extra’s “while I’m in there” like a rear housing truss, longfield rear axles, rancho’s to bilstiens etc. wanna be ready for this spring when the sun comes back out!
