Anyone ran a setup like this, or a similar one? I honestly love the way 33's look, on anything.
I ran 255/85s and 5.29 on the '86 (auto), and I'm going to run the same tires and 5.29 on my '85 (manual). 4.88 and 5.29 is only a difference of a couple hundred RPM at 75 mph, and I dunno about you but with the 22RE I'll trade that slight mpg hit for better climbing ability any day. And it'll give you wiggle room to try 35s down the road, if the bug bites you .

You'll probably rub a bit on the back of the fender liner at full stuff with 33s and just ball joint spacers, I did. A little trimming and pounding took care of that.

Really Saggin!!!!

1994 four runner with tons of rear sag. Bout time to fix this and have researched a fair amount about possible solutions. Being on a college student budget I am thinking of Moog C255 replacement springs. Eventually I may want to add coil spacers on top of those down the road. With the new Moog springs in the rear will I be able to fit 33X10.50's on it with little to no rubbing? Anyone have any pictures of this upgrade? Also, by no means am I a master mechanic, but feel confident enough to tackle this by myself. Anyone have a link or any tips to help with the installation process?
Thanks boys,
Grenda

Tire and wheel size question

Hey everyone, I have a tire and wheel size question. I currently have stock 95 Toyota alloy wheels, (I think they're 15x7's?) with 31x10.50 AT's. Anyways, I am going to go to 33x12.50 MT's and I would like to go with steel wheels. For the 12.50 width, is it better to have 8" or 10" wide wheels? I found a good deal on some 15x10's and picked them up. I dont want to spend the dough to have them mounted up only to discover that I should've gone with 15x8's. Any advice would be helpful, and thanks!

Grenda, my 91 T4R has Moog aftermarket coils and cheapy stock length shocks. It rolls on 15x7 factory wheels and 32x11.50 SSRs. They fit fine and don't rub unless I am turning hard at a weird angle offroad. I would think 33x10.50s would be fine also. Most 33x10.50 radials will be right about the same height as my 32s. The narrower width may also help you out there.

FormerJeeper, I can't help you out much. I prefer a 12.50 tire on an 8" wide wheel. 10" wide wheels really don't do it for me but it will work. I like the 8" wheels for a 12.50 tire because there is less of a chance of popping a bead offroad (my personal observations and opinion). For full tire pressure on the road, it would be fine. Plus, I just like the look of a tire with a balooned sidewall. A wide wheel gives the tire more of a blocky profile.

You can fit 33s with some hammering/pounding. If you plan to lift it in the future (such as spacers), do it right the first time. Search around for fj80 landcruiser coil swaps for 2nd gen 4runners.
I'm running them on mine and I am around 3.5" of lift now that they are settled, and they flex like a mofo.

I'm buying a set of fj80 coils in a few days. With all that lift in the back what did you do to the front of the 4runner?

Ball joint spacers, diff drop, and slight torsion bar crank (not enough to really feel though)
This is it sitting on 31s

12.5s are going to be very wide on an 8" wheel. Not impossible, but if you have the room I'd go with the 10" wheel. Whether or not you have the room depends on the backspace of the wheel you're looking at. If you can, I'd look into having the shop test mount them before you buy them.

It's pretty straight forward. Just rent a spring compressor from autozone.
You will need to grind your upper control arms a bit for BJ spacers. Google will solve all your questions. There is TONS of write-ups about this.

Got my fj80 springs in and it lifted the back end just shy of 5". It looks much better. Have not done the shocks yet and am assuming my Rancho 251D shocks are maxed out and therefore not being utilized? Any suggestions on a reasonablly priced shock that will make the ride a lot smooth because right now it is very rough. Below are some pics...Thanks for all the help yall.
