took some time and some digging, but its almost there.
ended up installing :
- 2.5" ball joint spacers
- Bilstein 5100 in front
- Bilstein 5125 in rear
- sway bar drop kit
- ZUK mod coils from a friends 5th gen 4runner

finally settled and sits just how i want her with the nose 1/4" higher than the rear
just have to find time to install the diff drop kit

Your 4R looks very good!
What Bilstein 5100 length did you install in front?

87 4runner shocks

I've got an 87, im looking at new shocks for it on roughcountry.com. the thing is, there are several different sizes, 0"-5" to be exact. My question is, what size do I need? I don't really want to lift it, I want stock height or very little lift at most. The whole truck is stock.

I am doing the same. 2" lift, and throwin some 31" KM3's on there. I would like to bump at some point, but will wait until I can regear to do so.

New member here. Just got a 95 4Runner. Needing new tires. Wondering what size I can go with. Keeping it stock suspension. From what I’ve read 265/75r15’s would be the closest to the 31x10.5x15’s that are on it now. Going with Duratracs. Will 265/80’s fit or will that be to large.

Thanks for the help.

I'm so confused. Ball joint spacers, zuk mods. All greek to me.

I'm a Gen4 Tacoma guy who fell in love with a beautiful '86 4Runner Turbo. How do I separate the wheat from the chaff regarding suspension?

My gold turbo is 99%+ stock. I'd like to get the front/rear balance right. I understand that there was some 'sag' organic to the species.

I'm not looking for some monster lift. I'd like to keep it pretty original. How do I approach getting the truck balanced front to rear?

What are the downsides of the zuk mod? Can the frame really handle more than a few hundred pounds in the 'bed'?

Not going to lie. The relative dearth of constructive input across multiple Gen1 forums is a bummer. It appears that there is but a handful of folks trying to revive these old school beauties.

Seems that many suspension vendors are or have discontinued production and support for these Gen1 4Runners. I really liked the look of the Ironman Offroad kit, but after a call to the company found that they are only supporting '84-85/SAS builds at this point.

I've been trying to figure out how to revive my '86 Turbo's clapped suspension. I don't want to build a rock crawler, so all the Skyjacker 4+" lifts are out.

I've kind of settled on the ARB OME 2" lift, but I can't seem to find someone who can source the parts and install under $4.8k, so I'm going it alone and afraid.

I've heard from multiple sources that purchasing from ARB can involve months of waiting for parts, so I am trying to source piece parts from multiple vendors (who claim to have parts in stock) to get the components.

I'm starting with the rear suspension since its utterly sacked. I can source the leaf springs, shocks, and bushings, but I remain concerned that I get hosed by not being able to find the greasable shackles.

Using the ARB fitment guide ARB 4x4 Accessories - Old Man Emu International Application Catalogue | Edition 55 - Page 230-231, I'm looking at purchasing:

Leafs: ARB CS010R Old Man Emu/Dakar Leaf Spring x2
Bushings: ARB OMESB6 Old Man Emu Bushing and Bush Kit x2
Shocks: ARB 60064 Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Sport Shock x2
Shackles: ARB® OMEGS3 - OME™ Rear Leaf Spring Shackles x2

Is there something I am missing for the rear?

I got 90' 4runnervw/ rough country 5" lift & have had nothing but problems. Not sure if I need to change something that was not included in kit or what not.
