Working out all the bugs

So after finally getting my runner on the road, thanks to my cousin. I have been driving it for about 2 months now and things are showing up. First and foremost is the braking-idle issue.

When I have my foot on the break the idle jumps. I replaced the brake booster vacuum hose and tested all the rest with WD-40. no leaks detected. Is there a way to test to see if the brake booster itself has a leak internally? I have a good one from my old wrecked runner but dont wanna swap them unless I have to.

Next is I lost power to my tailgate window switch. And luck would have it that I left my repair manual almost 2 hours away. I cant remember where it gets its power from. All my fuses are good. Not to worried yet. I just pulled the window out for now. I'll get my manual back weekend after next. Hoping the weather stays nice till then.

The PO lifted the rear 4 inchs and cranked the torsion bars all the way up but dropped them before selling it to me. Now I have 1 dead torsion bar. Just one more thing to put on my to do list. That will get done when I get my lift.

This is just a rant more than anything. My roommate has absolutely no interest in 4runners or any 4x4 for that matter. But the brake thing has me puzzled so any info would really help. if nothing else I will swap boosters this weekend.

The brake (not break) idle surge is a common problem, and the most common cause is that the idle rpms are set too high to begin with. Make sure your idle rpms is in spec.
If you don't know what that is, it should be on one of the under hood stickers.

My idle 'bounced' when applying the brakes.

If your idle is set too high, the ECM 'sees' acceleration and braking at the same time and decides to cut the ignition. When the idle drops due to the ignition re****ation, the ECM lets go and it accelerates again. Rinse. Repeat.
