Am I the only one who thinks the Stouts are ugly as sin? Burly little trucks, but definitely 2-baggers...

I think it is FUGLY as sin!! But I would drive the heck out of it... at a max speed of 55mph I have really grown to love Toyotas in the last several years and I would love to have a restored classic, either a stout or a trailblazer.

That Stout was very typical of early Japanese attempts to crash the party--minimalist design with WAY too little power. The response of the day was typical, too--no interest. Who remembers that their first motorcycle was merely a scooter (a 50cc Honda), going up against much bigger twins, etc.? While the Stout IS rather homely looking, personally I thought most of the pickups of the 60's were ugly (until '68, anyway). For me, Toyota's classic pickup design was their late-70's/early 80's model (Hi-lux?)--those look great all beefed up with offroad goodies!

too bad the 3.4 wouldn't fit those trucks have solid inner fender walls and the heads wouldn't clear without major cutting or hugely re designed engine mounts that go vertical and then horizontal.
