3vze white smoke then blackish grey smoke

Ive recently noticed my runner smoke on start up. You cant see the smoke unless you rev up the truck. Itll puff some white smoke, not a lot but its there, then after a few revs I get blackish grey puffs of smoke...exhaust pipe is sooty and smells a bit like gas on cold starts.

Hope its not the hg..anyone got any ideas? Its not a huge cloud like lve seen with blown hgs just a small puff like blowing out cigarette smoke kinda

Everytime you start up? Or just cold starts?

When my HG started to go thats exactly what it did. Overnight or when it got worse I would leave it for half a day and the coolant would leak on the piston. Then when I started it white smoke could be seen. This was in summer in Florida.

Black smoke is because the engine is cold and its bypassing the O2 sensor so it will run rich on start-up.

One thing you can do depending on how long its been doing it is by comparing the pistons. When mine finally went I took off the head and the #6 piston head was super clean from the steam of the coolant/water. Take off the spark plugs start at #6 and work your way around thats what I would do.

What are the temperatures like when you start it up? Does it seem to misfire on start up? (Once the water/coolant is burned off the plug will finally ignite the fuel.) Keep an eye on coolant and next oil change look for chocolate milk.

It doesnt misfire on start up...after I start it maybe a minute or so my idle jumps, I hear a click like a valve opening and my idle jumps to 1300 then clicks off idle is 900 does this for a bit warms up then I get a misfire.

Also just went out and the previous owners mechanic who did the hg broke my driver side bank injector clips. The one closest to the front of the motor I can actually lift the clip off with little to no force at all. As far as the clips go could this be a problem in the long run? Or should I just change them out? Going to pull the intake this week and see what else is wrong, and see what the pass side clips look like maybe its not even hooked up..Dammit
