Oil leak / engine wash

So I have an oil leak, very minimal, like a drop a day. Only leaks after been driven for a while. If its parked over the weekend it won't leak when cold. Accumulates on the front diff 3rd member and oil pan. I think it may be from the oil pan gasket or very top of timing cover. I know, two very different places. I just sprayed the engine down with simple green and pressure washed the problem areas. My question is, is pressure washing the engine bad? My brother did it to his xj one time and it didnt start for a couple days. I did it to my xj and it was fine. Have you guys ever done this? I'm curious what repercussions this might have hahah.

He probably got water somewhere it shouldn't be. Wrap your electronics in plastic and you'll probably be fine. A better idea is to fix leaks right away so your block doesn't get filthy .

Oh, and I like Purple Power better than Simple Green, but either works.

Agreed.... avoid the intake and distributor... maybe even the alternator from being directly sprayed.

does it accumulate right on the inspection plate and then drip onto the 3rd? sounds exactly like mine. My parents noticed I had leaked oil all over (though I knew it had been leaking) so I finally took a look. cleaned it up and waited for it to leak. The only place is right there at the bottom of the inspection plate.

Granted mine is a 3.0

I noticed I was almost 2 quarts low so I bought some 10w-30 castrol high mileage oil to try it out. no leaky.
