rear axle alignment
So i swapped my subaru liberty for a 4runner a month ago and i had to trailer it home, so when i got it home i realised that the back right wheel sticks out more than the back left wheel. and i have a crabbing effect, but that might be due to the broken lower right ball joint, any help would be appreciated on why one wheel sticks out more than the other

It's a considerable difference. I can only think that the sway bay (think its the sway bay, I'm new to 4wd) and when it's been lifted it hasn't been extended. Your thoughts?

What year is the truck? 84-89 have leaf sprung rear, 90-95 have coil spring suspension.
If you're saying what I think you're saying, it sounds like it's a lifted second gen? And nobody relocated or lengthened the panhard bar between the axle and the frame? That'd cause what you're describing.

Thats exactly what im on about, youve answered my question with flying colours. this is my bus http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classi...thread-64.html, (its on the bottom of that page) so yeah coil spring, so as you said its a gen2, advice on the panhard bar relocation or length would be excelent

You've got a couple options. Cut your panhard in half and splice a length of tube into it, make a new panhard to the correct length, or build a set of bracket extensions to return the stock panhard to it's correct angle. What length the new bar should be or how high the brackets should go depends entirely on how your truck is sitting now. Get out the measuring tape . Here's a couple of google searches to get you started:

Crabbing happens any time your rear axle isn't directly on the center line of the truck. Simple physics dictates that the rear axle must fall into line behind the front, and when it does, the body will appear crooked to the direction of travel. Bad panhard geometry can easily cause crabbing, though you won't know if that's the only cause until you get it corrected and see if the crabbing stops. It won't be caused by the ball joint - that can throw your alignment off, and you're screwed if the ball joint falls apart while you're rolling, but crabbing is a rear axle issue.
Report back when you've got it figured out, we need more aussies on the board. You guys have some nice trucks down there.

I have the 4crawler panhard drop bracket. Not hard to install. He ships them fast too.

There's a photo of mine. Clearly hasn't been properly done before I got the car. So I can assume that gives me excessive crabbing.

That's a horrible angle. Mine is almost flat at static height. I'll try to snap a pic of mine soon.
Have you hit your gas tank with your driveline?
