They are tight and at full stuff and full lock the sidebiters do hit the frame/springs but it isn't to bad. I just did the old BFH and clearanced the finderwells. I have front alcan springs so the pin is almost 2 inches forward that helps a lot. love your build by the way. I've been following along.

Thanks. I love the pittbull rockers. they are 39.5x16.5x15's on 15x10 steel mods with 2" backspacing. I know everybody thinks that the tire is to wide but I honestly love this tire. Best off road tire I have ever seen with maybe the exception of competition compound tires. Even then its close. If I ever wear these out and I doubt I will I will go with 42inch rockers in the radial.
the loss of my 99 was sad but I do love the replacement check out the build thread in my signature for that story.
BTW go with the 5.0 you won't be sorry. LOL

Sweet, thanks. I need to BFH my firewall and cut my fenders for the 37's. I can't push my axle any further forward with steering box where it is.

I put my box right up against the radiator support. Some guys cut the support and that would be my next move but I checked today and it is the spring that my tire rubs against. Guess it's time for some wider axles. LOL

well it took less than 24 hours for my wife and I to change our minds. No longer up for sale. To many memories tied to this truck. like the fact that we got engaged while wheeling it and many more that are great as well. So the thought of loosing it may be just what we needed to motivate us to really get it back on the road (or off the road as it were). I am very happy not to see it go.

Me too. Drop the 5.0 in there and make it happy too.

so it is going to take to long for me to get the 5.0 in and I really want to go wheeling with this truck in November (local Run with Wheeling Arizona) so I have decided to find a 22r to throw in until I get everything for the 5.0 done. And Craigslist is our friend. I found a guy that is doing a v8 swap (ironic I know) who has sold me a complete 22r and radiator minus the intake and carb for $100. Yes that is right a running 87 22r with all accessories for $100. sounds to good to be true so we will see when I get there tomorrow. LOL
Anybody got a intake manifold laying around that they want to get rid of

Well I got it. picked up a running 22r on Saturday for $100 with all accessories as well as an extra ignitor and coil, the only thing missing is the intake manifold and the carb. I have a line on an intake manifold here in town for about $30 and will invest in a new weber for $250. It's going on the stand and will get new bearings and maybe new rings with a quick hone. All new gaskets and for less than $500 I will be back up and running. I already own a Schneider camshaft that will go in though I am resisting putting oversized valves in. This motor is only a stop gap till I have the 5.0 ready to go in. I will post pics of the motor on the stand as soon as I can.

So the 22r is torn down and there are so many problems that it is going to be fully rebuilt including a new head (engbldr with O/S Valves) and the cylinders were scored beyond what a hone would take to clean up so 40 over pistons are coming. the Crank is good so it will get a polish and go back in with new bearings. I already had a steel backed timing set on the shelf so that will go in as well. I found my 32/36 weber so that will go back on for now and already have a LC header that will bolt up as well. I will have the block decked .0010 and have a LC adjustable top cam gear coming to get the cam timing back to where it should be. As for the cam I have a schneider 260-70F from a previous build. All said and done I expect to be about 140 horse and close to 200 feet pound of torque. This will be a good little motor till I get the 5.0 in and then I will sell it and someone else will enjoy a nice torquey 22r. parts are coming in from all over and as soon as a couple of pieces come in the block will go to the machine shop and it won't be long till the Rockdawg will be back on the trail. Woot Woot.
I still am happy about getting this for a 100 as it has all the needed accessories and brackets on it that I no longer had.
Propane could be in the future as well but I have blown my stash on getting the motor back into good shape so it will be a while.
