I really like your plans for this truck! It looked super clean stock, Im a little jealous haha. Im not a fan of those chrome wheels and Id lower it just a tad like you mentioned but it looks great! Cant wait to see the 3.4 swap. I was always thinking about doing that swap with the blower on my 94 some day.

Looking for a Toyota engine rebuilder in Salt Lake City

Hi all,

I finally found a rolled donor 1999 4runner vehicle so I can now complete the 3.4 swap through Locked Off Road in Murray, Utah. The donor vehicle is at Dylan's shop and he is about to a point where he can pull the engine in the donor vehicle so I can have it rebuilt. I have searched for an engine rebuild shop that specializes in Toyota engines but I have come up short. There isn't a big demand for rebuilding Toyota engines due to their long life span so finding someone that specializes in them is tough. I can find shops all day long that want to rebuild it but I would rather work off of a referral than taking a chance. I also want it rebuilt with only Toyota parts. Can anyone offer advice on an engine rebuild shop that specializes in Toyota's?

Once the engine is done, I will add a supercharger and then it will be finished off with body and paint. Can't wait, it is almost done!

Divinity Auto specializes in Toyota/Lexus. I think the guy costs too much, but maybe that's what happens when all your customers are Lexus owners.

1990 4Runner project almost done!

I've almost completed the 1990 2 door 4Runner refurbishing and I can't wait to get it back from the paint shop. It now has a supercharged 3.4 rebuilt by Divinity Auto in Salt Lake and installed by Dylan at Locked Off Road in Murray, Utah. He also done the straight front axle swap, the Alcan springs, the 66 inch rear springs, the high pinion front diff, and some other stuff. I worked with James Dean Graphics in Tucson to etch out the original graphics for a 2 door 4Runner and now he has the pattern for everyone that needs it. The 4Runner is about 2 weeks away from being finished in Bonomo's Paint Shop and looks awesome so far. I'm replacing virtually ALL emblems through OEM parts, powder coating the rear spare tire carrier, the roof rack, the wiper frames and a few other parts. I have found the OEM bumper chrome pieces, aftermarket grill and only the front fender chrome trim pieces but can't find new rear fender chrome pieces (bummer).

The hood is going to come out awesome, I think. I decided to go with a smaller hood scoop off of a Datsun 300ZX and it is a little offset toward the driver side. I'll post a finished picture once it is out of the paint shop. I can't wait to get it out, it is going to be a fun ride.

Wow, some time has passed but the rebuild is done. The 3.4 swap with supercharger, all aluminum radiator, K&N air intake, hood scoop from a Datsun 300ZX installed, straight front axle, 66 inch rear springs, high pinion from a Landcruiser, new paint & striping, and tons of other stuff is done. This thing looks awesome!! I'm loving it........

Your 4Runner looks really good. I only have one suggestion, clean up and/or paint that throttle assembly. It sticks out like a sore thumb in a really clean engine bay

Yes, you're right. I plan on cleaning it up because it does stick out badly. I had many parts powder coated so they look great against this dirty little piece. Thanks for the feedback.

3.0 swap to 3.4 will the 3.4 bolt up tA340 H transmission

Will an 3.4 directly bolt up to a 1990 4 runner with the A340H automatic transmission or are any special adaptors needed.
