84 runner with chevy swap buying tips

Hey guys I am an active member on this forum , currently a 4th gen owner. Looking at buying a real trail rig to do the nasty stuff in so I dont have to worry about a little damage. I found an 84 with chevy 350, solid axle i think all chevy drivetrain but not sire. What do i need to look for ? Im worried about the obvious things such as a hacked lift or issues with the swaped drivetrain. It is a work of art in my eyes I want a 1st gen so bad. Guy wants 900 says his wife wants it gone NOW

For $900, as long as it's not a crumbling piece of junk, and it actually runs and all parts function, that's quite a deal! For that price, you can afford to troubleshoot some things if needed, and then mod the heck out of it. Some pics or an ad would certainly help people in giving advice, though.

For $900, as long as the body isn't too thrashed, it's probably worth taking a flyer on. If it turns out to be crap, you could probably part it out and get your money back.

Be ready to spend some time fixing it up though. At that price, it sounds like a project gone bad, and you're probably going to have to clean up his mess before it's useable. You've got stars in your eyes, so take a buddy with you to look at it again and make sure your buddy knows it's his job to be the pessimist, and if he says walk, you should probably walk.
