My '87 Daily driver
Boring evening here, thought I'd post up a few pics of the daily project.
As I bought it, rebuilt 22RE, 230K miles total, two owner history, bone stock except Edlebrock rear shocks and lame fog lights on the bumper. Laid down $2,800 for it.

So, I will need a new front right fender and a rear bumper before it goes to paint next year, but I scored a sweet tailgate last night. I excited to see how much faster it goes with the Turbo decal!

Thank you! I really like it, having fun with it anyway. The only thing that does not work is the windshield washer button and I replaced the broken power antennae with a non power one I grabbed at the salvage yard.

Nice clean looking runner. I would like to get a 1st gen after my 2nd gen bites the dust, but a good one is hard to find here. Is that other 1st gen jacked in the driveway yours also?

Yes, a SAS'd '86. I have a build thread going on this forum, "The Pile Build"

Make sure to go to a boating store and get some 303 Protectant to put on that shifter boot. It will make it last longer and not fade as much. 303 is some amazing stuff and I put it on all the plastics, vinyls, and rubbers in our cars. (Also if your dash isn't cracked yet, it will also slow down the process of cracking)

I got the replacement gate on last night, what a pain in the as$! The best news is that the window goes up and down very nice and quietly, it was worth taking the extra time to do it right! I think the Turbo added about 10hp

Funny you mentioned that. I will admit to buying a replacement gate a couple months ago that is blue. It is missing a few components but is in near perfect condition and I drug my feet installing it because I didn't want to put on a blue gate. I was lucky to find this one in the same color as mine. I should be able to use the extra parts from my dented gate to complete the blue one and then sell or trade it.

The trans knob is an 1 7/8" #8 pool ball I bought on ebay, they are difficult to find in that small diameter though. I originally drilled and tapped it for my wheeler project, but like it so much that I kept it on this truck. The T-case knob is an OEM unit from a second gen.

I recently replaced the stock stereo for another one from a second gen. The original units tuner was poor and the cassette played didn't work.
