2nd Gen aftermarket parts hard to find?
Ive been trying to find and order some aftermarket parts for my 4runner. It seems like the second gen market is pretty slim....the options for things like aftermarket bumpers / brush guards for example ..are slim to none?
I even went to a couple local offroad shops here and had a hard time getting them to find / order me anything. It looks like Ill have to find a fabrication shop and have things made. Has anyone else noticed this or am I simply looking in the wrong places?
Can I use things desinged for a 93 pickup for example? (bumper)

Welcome to the world of the "forgotten" Gen (or the Rodney Dangerfield Gen, for those old enough to understand that). Yep, you're going to have "fun" trying to find stuff for it, as most aftermarket products start their listings at 1996 and up. There are a few who make tube bumpers for it, and ARB, cbi, or TAG make plate bumpers for it as well. Be careful with pickup parts--I've heard that many things won't interchange, but I couldn't say for sure.

I can tell you for sure that any bumper designed for the pickup rear will need to be modified, because the pickup bumpers are designed to mount outside the frame rails, and the 4Runner has body mounts in the way.

Well super. That would explain a lot. I did manage to find this place
Rear Multi-Carrier bumper Toyota 4Runner (90-95): BlueLakeOffroad
They are out of Georgia, but at least they make and ship for 2nd gens. Looks like decent work as well. I had been looking for a swing out tire bumper for a while now and most places I found (CBI ADO etc) all want the 4runner there to make/mount it.... the price is a bit of a turn off though, the bumper would cost more then 25% of what I paid for the 4runner to begin with lol.

Sub'd...
I'm new to the 2nd Gen game as well and having the same troubles.
Hoping those that have been modding their 2nd Gens for a while can share their sources.
We need a thread of manufacturers that have 2nd Gen stuff... I would start one but like I said I'm new to it all, so my list is non existent.

Ouch on the price. When I add all the goodies I'd want $1200.

I noticed that. I saw the initial price and got really interested really fast. Then I saw what they charge for all the add-ons to make the product resemble what they're advertising, and my wallet shriveled up like a willy in a cold river.

Uh oh--don't look now, but it looks like TAG is playing their name games again to try to grab new customers (victims?). Those pics are the same ones from the TAG site, and they're "also" in Georgia. Originally Kennesaw Mtn., then Tactical Armor Group (TAG), and apparently now Blue Lake Offroad. Bizarre.
EDIT: If you're unfamiliar with their rep, they are notorious for lousy customer service, and insanely over-extended delivery times (I've read of one month turning into six or more!). By all accounts, though, their workmanship seems good.

Their new marketing campaign: "Just send us your da@# money and shut up--you'll get your stuff when we're good and ready! Thanks for shopping at Blue Lake Tactical Armor of Kennesaw Mtn! No calls accepted after orders taken."

So the real irony is that their new business acronym is "BLO"?
It's on stamped into their products, I just can't make that stuff up.
EDIT: Actually now that I look closely, I think that is photoshopped or painted on there... you don't see the grill thru it, as you do the grass on the opposite side (compass).
I didn't do it, I just pulled that from their website.

OP, check out Trail-Gear, AddictedOffroad, and CBI. All good companies, all make stuff for the second gen. I know there's others out there, I just can't think of 'em off the top of my head.

I contacted Addicted , they said they had to have the 4runner there to make the swing bumper, same with CBI. Ill keep looking, someone somewhere has to make a quality swing bumper for a 2nd gen that will ship.
