1st Gen Window Stuck Down. and "What does this switch do"

1st issue:

I recently purchased my 86 first gen two months ago.
Finally took off the removable top and enjoyed it until it got cold for a few days.

I put the top back on and when I tried to roll the window up it wouldnt budge. No sound or anything getting stuck or anything. Looked for a fuse anywhere, couldn't find anything. I did click back the plug that connects the pillar to the back left of the truck.

I bought the truck with new interior and previous owner said he never knew there was a switch on the inside to roll the window down or up. I have no switch at all inside the truck, All i have is window lock and other up down switch for rear. no switch above the radio(where I see some trucks with a switch)

I don't have power anything except that rear window.

Any ideas of where I should start? I don't have a volt meter at the moment so I'm not sure if i'm getting power to the rear.

Issue 2(or not really an issue)
The "Power and Normal" switch with the green and yellow buttons behind the auto shifter. When i hit the far right button I see "power" and I get some power from the motor like it was in Overdrive. What does the left one do? "normal" I can have it clicked down and it wont do anything, or have both of them not clicked and nothing. Does it matter if "normal" is clicked down or not? "normal" doesnt light up on the dash.

What does the Overdrive button do on the shifter? same as "power" button?

Random easy questions, just curious!
If anyone is in SOCAL Orange COunty, LA, or SD and can help out, i'll come to you with a few beers!

For reference of my buttons

1st gen hard top safety switch

There is a safety switch for the hardtop. It is a plunger type that blocks the window from moving when the top is off.
there is a diagram form TOYO DIY part number84880-89101

The Power button changes the shift points in the ECT, making the truck rev higher before shifting. The Overdrive button lets the transmission go into overdrive, or not, depending.

They're useful for towing or climbing steep hills, to keep the RPMs high and in the power band. Driving around normally with the Power mode on and overdrive off will absolutely destroy your gas mileage, and gain you nothing.

Make sure you put ALL of the bolts back in your top. One of them on the driver's side (I think second from the front) is needed to make the circuit complete.

It's Toyota's dummy proof way of keeping you from rolling the window up when the top is off.

Just looked in the FSM it's actually the driver's side bolt second one from the REAR. If this bolt is missing or not screwed in all the way the rear window will not operate.

Yeah, I don't roll with the "power" button or "OD" button on at all times.
Does everyones Overdrive Light on the top right of the radio always on? mine is.

The switches all work, I'm just wondering what the "normal" switch does. I can have it un-clicked where both buttons are not pressed or 1 or the other.

Yeah, here. Just to front of rear roll-bar vertical member on driver side. It has to eb the proper length bolt.

If you need schematic for rear power window control, just see my post on Yotatech here.

Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.

Good to know that you got it fixed. But...

Care to share how you fixed it? That's the least you could to give back to the community that may help you again next time you're in a bind.

BTW, stock location of switches is lousy. That's were you would spill you drinks, and that's prime location for a cup holder once cleared.

Here's how I relocated my console switches

I missed the second to last bolt on the drivers side rear and that switch like above stated fixed it by putting a bolt in it!

I thought the window switch was on top of the radio area. If thats the switch, I'll just have to wire it. Here is a better picture.

oh weird. there isn't a switch down there. ive never seen a console layed out like that.

my 85 sr5 doesn't have the window lock, but my rear wiper, and rear window controls are on the console.

an ex gf had an 87 custom, and hers had the same rear controls as mine, PLUS she had the window lock. it was between the other 2 buttons.

if they put the rear window controls on the dash, ive never seen that before.
my 86 sr5 had a power antenna button, it was on the dash...
