Question 3.slow is tooooo slow

Hi everyone,

newb here with a need for confirmation. I just got a 95 3.0 as a hand me down. it has recently had the engine replaced with an rebuilt one but for some reason it seems to be acting wierd. for starters, the engine idles between 500 and 750 when in park. also, it seems sluggish at times as if its lacking in fuel. also, this morning i was running late so i didnt give the truck much time to warm up ( about 2 min) and when i stepped on the gas from a stop, the truck stumbled at first as if to shut off but then quickly regained its power. it did this for about 3 to 4 minutes till the truck was fully warmed up. now, based on previous owner info i know that the fuel filter hasnt been changed ever and its at 139k miles but i wonder if the fuel pump may be going as well based on the lack of power overall. any input would be appreciated.

thanks

Okay I would first start by replacing the fuel filter. As far as your fuel pump you can test its pressure once you have a new filter on. However, I am sure you will find that it is fine. I would also check to make sure your sparkplugs are all tight. I have had it happen and if you follow this link>(copy and paste) http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...hreadid=15446, you will see I am not the only one. A loose plug may give you that Stumble. I had a loose plug, and that is what was going on with mine. Check your air filter, and air pasage ways be sure they are clean and clear. Good luck and keep us informed.
Cheers
P

PS if you go to page two or three someone has put up a how too for replacing the fuel filter with pictures!!

Thumbs up

thanks for the advise Hawk. I would have never thought of checkin that out. guess i'm gonna have to do my own tune up on the truck and look everything over. As for the fuel filter, its been sittin on my back seat since last week. Plan on getting that replaced this weekend if weather permits.
