What is still available?

Short story long. I am on c-list looking for a passengers side power window switch for my '88 sr-5. Innocent enough. But in my search for parts, I find a complete, intact '85 4runner for sale and wind up buying it a few days later. Ok I know that by our nature us first gen owners take pride in fabricating and tracking down used parts to keep our trucks rolling. But both trucks are over 25 years old, my thoughts were how much first gen stuff does Toyota still sell? I'm thinking about stuff like foam weather strips and door and tailgate window whiskers you know the stuff that breaks down after all these years as well as other parts that just plain wear. Anybody made any purchases from the dealer or find stuff that they were surprised were still available? Btw anyone have a power window switch that they are willing to part with?

The only things I've ever bought from the dealer for mine was certain gaskets (i.e. headgasket, thermostat, water pump), a rear wiper arm, and a complete antenna.

I don't think any of the factory switches are still available, every now and then an original will show up on ebay for a stupid price. I watched a youtube vid a while ago and took my passenger switch apart and fixed it. The rocker mechanism inside might need some attention and the bi-metal contact strip can be bent back into shape too.

I have not bought anything from the dealer besides ignition components in years. I'm a big fan of using OEM cap, rotor, and plug wires.

I bought new window felts on ebay, they came in long lengths and I just cut them to fit. I will be doing this again soon, as mine is getting painted right now. Enjoy your new toys, lets see some pics!

There's lots of stuff still available from the dealer. Most of it will cost too much, and you'll have to wait days to get it, but it's there.

Boat racer I will try to find that you tube video thanks! the switch came apart in many pieces I may still have a chance with it though. The '85 while it is an Sr-5 is very minimal on options, so less stuff to go wrong in my view. I am in NJ and these trucks just are not around any more, it is rare to see any 80's toyotas out and about. That said, both runners were Jersey trucks their whole lives and they are still around. Pictures of the '85 to follow by next week or so.
