1st gen power windows not working?

The driver and passenger windows stopped. I tried resetting that power window circuit breaker by the kick fuse box, that didn't do it.

Tips?

You may have to pull the inner door cover off to get to the motor wiring to see if it's getting voltage when the switches are engaged.

Usually my gauges dim slightly when i hit both power windows at once. They're not doing that now. Probably getting no power, the clip may have fallen out or something. Last time it was put back together rather quickly (I have to dismantle everything to switch to half doors, like i did last year).

Taking it apart Saturday. Even topless and windowless, the heater does just fine for now.

The contacts in the switches also start wearing out. 4crawler has a decent article on his site if you have that style switch. I got tired of messing with mine and just rewired mine to the center console and lost the window lock as well.

good luck

Do you have a link to that article?

A friend should be coming by today with a multimeter (yep, old toyota owner that doesn't own one here.)

My door cards are off, the clips didn't fall out or anything. The clips and connectors don't seem dirty or any of that. Possibly bent, but I don't know what they were supposed to look like

Fun fact: they're still broken. All I know is I can take a battery straight to the windows to get them up and down, power is not getting to the switches, the circuit breakers seem fine, and I can't find the power window relay

Since you have the door panels off, you can test the motors by jumping the contacts with 12VDC. If the motors work, the problem is somewhere else. Maybe the switches, relay or wiring. Enclosed is the schematic for the windows.

They've completely stopped working. I've checked the fuses and they seem to be okay. The window motor makes a clicking noise when I press the button, but the window won't move. Has anyone else experienced this problem with a car toyota? Any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix this would be greatly appreciated.
