I've gotten 5 of the 6 cylinders changed but the cylinder closet to the passenger side firewall has me stumped. No matter what I do I can't seem to get to it. So my question is, What do I need to do to make this a simple swap or what Macgiverish contraption do I need to fashion to get to the darn thing.
I use : a 3/8 drive socket handle, a 6" straight extension, a swivel extension , then the sparkplug socket. It's tight quarters, I know. I am able to slide my left arm down between the vacuum hoses near the firewall, to help support the socket, at some points. You basically have to take the plug boot off and feel the end of the plug, cuz ya can't 'see' it AND put the socket on it at the same time.
Put a dab of anti-sieze on the threads when you put the new ones back in. You'll appreciate it when you take em out the next time. I'm also not real tall, so I stand on an 8" concrete block to get a better angle.
I used a T handle swiveling socket wrench when I did mine. Oddly enough I used it because it came with the truck. I have seen them at autozone for around $8
I went up to the service station right up the street from me. they let me have a bay and access to there tools so I managed to get it just fine. Thanks for the help.
