mine did this to me, replace the blot that held the top, on the drivers side, I think its the 2ed from the back, that will enable the glass to function. roll it up and down, the light should then go off.

Just close the tailgate tight and push the lock down. The light will go out.

Yes, something mechanical might be binding and preventing your tailgate lock from going all the way down.

Therefore, put your "B" bolt back*, cycle the glass up and down, make sure tailgate is closed all the way and try again.
If that doesn't work,
Either, your switch is bad or not adjusted properly, or you have a short to ground. Either way, Door Lock light will not drain battery because it should only come on when IGN is on- unless someone modified your wiring.

Here's the cover top "B" bolt, just forward of the rollbar diagonal member.

Here's location of Cover Top bolt. (Make sure you use the correct length one):

*Cover Top bolt or switch does not affect Door Lock or indicator light. However it needs to be on to allow you to cycle the glass.

A picture paints a thousand words.
Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.
