Spare tire carrier? 2nd gen.

My 93 has a broken spare tire carrier underneath. Instead of fixing it I just wanted to mount the spare on the tailgate. I see the ones where I have to buy a whole bumper and then buy a bracket to put on it but im not much of a wheeler, just a camper and have no need for such a bumper no matter how badly I want one. Toss me some ideas? Pics would be great.

To put the OEM one on you would need a tailgate from a 90-91 v6
and the tire carrier from the same truck.

You could put a tire carrier in the rear hitch. I've got pics of my version lurking somewhere in my build thread.

You could also retrofit an OEM carrier, but you'd need to pull the quarterpanel and reinforce where the carrier hinges bolt on.

Im a little wary of taking off body panels and retrofitting. I appreciate the offer though.

Check out the Hitchgate then. Or CBI has a hitch mount carrier. Or learn to weld and make your own.

I highly recommend option three. Welding is FUN.

I like that cbi a lot. Did some looking around and for the prices of that I should build one. I have a welder but never used it. Lots of scrap steel around my parents farm. Ill head over there and start practicing this weekend.
