Parking Brake Stuck? T4R knowledge needed

Hello all,

I'm having an issue with my 1st gen 4runner. Here are the symtoms:

-When I get in and step on the brake, I immediately notice it seems more firm and harder to press.

-I start the car, and when switching into reverse there is a little "jump" from the car that moves me backwards. From there, it is very hard to move. It feels as if my brakes or emergency brake is stuck. This also happens when switching from reverse to drive.

-When driving, if I let of the gas, I am immediately lurched forward because somehow the brakes are being pressed. (Note: The parking brake is NOT on, or at least the light isn't. And the light does turn on when I pull the brake, and goes off when I press it in making me think it works correctly...)

It's sitting at a college laundry mat right now.. So any ideas to get this beauty working again would be a great help!!

Thank you in advance guys!!

When you apply the parking brake how many clicks before it is engaged fully? Hopefully its about 5-8. If your able to jack up the truck and check that the wheels turn at least a full revolution just to make sure the brakes are not engaged. You can also check the parking brake cable is not tight when the brake is not applied.
Good luck hopefully its something easy...
