20 minutes and the driver side lower mounts are separated.

Need some angle grinder cutting wheels to get the steering out of the way to get to the pass side.

@Brownfaux

Wish you were closer! I could really use the crossmember in your picture that holds the front of the diff in place. Mine is a little bent up from bouncing on rocks.

So true! I'm running 5" HD's on my 3rd gen with the 3.4 and I hate them. I assumed that with my engine weight that they would be pretty soft after break in but I was wrong. They have softened up a bit and settled a little but still not even close to my liking. As soon as I got the cash I'm swapping in a set of standard 3's to try. If that fails, I'm gonna pull the trigger on a link setup.

Hmmm. Is it easy to just take a leaf out to lower if needed? As much as I want to be reasonable and go 3" I really want to be high up. Although the 3" kit is technically a 4" kit....

with the 3" springs, youll get about 7" of actual lift. The springs are 3" (once they settle a little bit) , and then you get a little from the drop hanger/shackles/solid axle/leaf pack thickness.

I went with RUF springs, my springs are FLAT. I have about 3" total lift.

Do you have any problems with the front and rear matching?

The good thing about RUF, besides being cheap, is you build the pack for desired lift and flex. Nothing wrong with TG though IMO. I am pretty happy with my 4" springs as they are finally settling some.

And I am dealing with the same frame issue on my '87. I didn't see it til after I bought it (dammit). It was poorly repaired and a stock chain loop was welded in place. I cut the loop off and a chunk of frame came with it (dammit). I'll just patch it and plate/gusset. The crossmember is straight enough, but I'll use other points to measure off and get the spring crossmember square.

If that's your personal experience then I really better stick with the 3 inch kit.

I used the 3 inch Trail Gears on my 89 and I'm right at 25.5 inches frame to ground on 35 inch MTR's at street pressure. Total lift once they settled just under 6 inches over stock.

The fenders and quarters have a couple inches cut out, but this should give you an idea on how the 3 inch spring sit. The rear has TG 4 inch springs.

The rear looks a little low. But could be the terrain.
