1st gen 86 turbo model - can I use rims/tires from later model 4runners?

I'm looking to get used tires/rims and I was wondering if I could get them from a later model 4runner.

Also are there any other trucks that I could potentially be finding used tires/rims from such as an old Chevy?

Yep, newer model (4wd) 4runners and pickups will work, as well as T-100's. Rim size might go up to 16's on certain years instead of 15's. Chevy will interchange, although I had an issue with the center hole being slightly smaller and not wanting to fit over my manual locking hubs, might have been an isolated circumstance with that specifiction brand of wheel. Nissan also interchanges, might be some others, I'm sure someone else will post up, good luck!

Yep,
Second gen MoreFunner 15-inch SR5 rims are popular...brings the tire slightly outboard for wider but subtle stance... Many of us have them...

However, I wish I had found the 3rd-gen MoreFunner rims first ... 16-inchers with 5-spokes (aka 5 stars?), like here... Classic, understated.

Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.

Aftermarket rims for Chevy, Nissan, Isuzu will fit, but their factory rims will not, the center hole is too small.

Just watch the backspacing. Later model factory wheels tend to have more backspace, which can get in the way.
