Yep, putting a 302 in this thing. I'm getting a bellhousing kit from NWOR, and keeping the Toyota R150F trans in there. My bellhousing kit should be arriving tomorrow, at least that's what they said when I ordered it. Getting the mounts from them as well, but they will be here later.
Decided to do this crazy project after this happened...
What can I say? The 3.0 falling apart sounded like the perfect excuse to put this purdy thing in there.
So far other than removing the old 3.0 and deeming it dead, I got the wiring harness out and I started eliminating what I won't be needing from this mess of wires. My goal is to keep all of the factory gages on the dash working. We'll see how that goes. I kept the oil pressure sending unit and the water temp sensor from the 3.0, and will need to find some thread adapters to fit them in the 302.
Nice! What radiator are you going with? You going to use headers? I swapped a 302 in almost 3 yrs ago into my 86' 4runner you'll love the difference in power!
In for the swap. Keep us posted on how things with NWOR go, I've heard horror stories.

I'm holding off on making any plans for the headers or a radiator until I have the engine in there, and I know what kind of space I have to work with.
I think I saw your thread on YotaTech. That build was awesome, glad to hear that it was worth it in the end.

do you already have all your accessories?
I would suggest to use a serpentine belt system, and a short snout WP.
MAYBE just maybe you will be able to run a puller fan.
I pieced mine together, so im running v belts still, and there is very little room in front of the WP. I had to run a pusher fan, they aren't nearly as affective.

Thanks, yeah I have my build thread over there. It's definitely worth it, in my case it was just the financial part that made it hard, alot of thing I would have done differently if the funds had been there. I agree with Nevada, if you can afford to do a short water pump it will help with fitting a radiator and fans alot. Serpentine setup would be awesome as well. I'm getting ready to put a new radiator in, this time I'm going to completely rebuild the core support around fitting the radiator and 14" puller fan.I'm going to push everything forward as close to the grill as possible. I hate to cut the core support more, but it is what it is, I wish I woulD have gone with the short WP though.
We'll see if I give in to getting a shorter water pump, and serpentine system. My budget seems to be shrinking more every day. Going to end up dragging this out until April just so I can get more of the parts I want.
On to today's news. I got some stuff from NWOR.
But.... It came from NWOR so something had to go wrong, right? I didn't get the slave cylinder, or pilot bushing. Can't get a hold of them until Tuesday.
Oh, I also got my remote oil filter mount from Jegs today. It came with all the hardware I was promised.
Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do for a pressure plate. The kit came with this clutch disk. An AISIN DT-072. For some reason I am having a difficult time just finding a stock pressure plate for this engine. They're all part of a kit it seems, and if I find a pressure plate by itself it's some high end performance thing that I don't think I need for this project.
I would LOVE to have a 302 in my '95. What do you think the total price tag will end up being?
Thinking about the answer to this question just makes me feel irresponsible.
I was told to expect 2500 to 3000. That's including a rebuilt engine, the adapters, and a bunch of nickel-and-diming on everything else that is going to pop up.
Just got off the phone with NWOR about the missing parts. It's not looking good .
Guy on the phone said he is going to check the weight of the package that they sent me to determine if the parts are actually missing, and call me in the morning. It sounds like complete BS to me.
Oh, and the reason that I have to wait until tomorrow for them to determine this is because it's too late in the day to have someone in the warehouse take care of it. It's 1:30 in the afternoon, their time. They don't close until 4:30.
