88 4runner 3.0 to built 22RE swap

So i decided that its going to be cheap to put a swap a 22re engine into my 4runner instead of a 3.4L. I plan to bore it .30 over, port and polish, and run a cam. My question is am i going to need to upgrade my injectors by doing this? Another question is does anybody have suggestions for how to do the wiring should i just pull out the whole cab wiring harness and get the right one for a 22re or is there an easier way?

Swap the complete harness and ECM from the donor vehicle.

Why swap a gutless motor for another gutless motor? I'd just fix what ya got if you don't want to 3.4 it. From what I understand the early 3.0's are not too bad of motors.

going backwards does not make sense , you will do MORE work to put in a 22re then a 3.4L ... 3.4L is the way to go for sure !!

this is not just because I sell swap headers , or do the installs ..
it is a newer tech engine , and just is better !

I must agree to go with the 3.4L

I'm kinda regretting that I stuck with the 22re. I bought a .020 bored over block, 291 cam from Low Range, Tri-Y headers and oversized valves for it.
Probably could've spent the same amount of money on a 3.4L swap.

The 22re is a good engine, but it gets expensive to get a decent amount of power out of it.

You can do what you want.

Guaranteed you'll be left wanting after you swap down from this swap.

Add me to the chorus - it'll be more work to swap the 22RE than a 5VZE, you'll have less power than a 5VZE, and with a modded 22RE you'll be less reliable than the 5VZE. Unless you already have the modded 22RE on a stand waiting to go into something, this makes no sense.

But to answer your question, you don't need fuel mods to run a cam.

you will also need to move motor mounts around on frame or get a kit, the V6 will be more forward than a 22re. Good luck

thanks for the input everybody i know all the facts about the 3.4 and how much easier it is the problem is i don't have enough my to put out there for a 3.4 and to buy all the conversion stuff its actually a lot more expensive to do the 3.4 than then 22RE! i was able to pick up a running 22re for 200, and a tranny for 100 i have good connections all i have left is to rebuild and drop it in!

Do you just need to swap the engine harness and ECU? What about the cabin harness under the dash? Can you use the original?
