Or I could just put it on the opposite side of the flashlight holder. There is a square area there that isn't being used for anything. All I could do with a 3d printer is make a slot for USB cable to slide into. I'm not an electrician so I don't really want to get into any type of electronics. I will add that tomorrow and post some more pictures.

That is really shallow. Not sure that is enough space to create a stable cup holder. I can see the depth measurement but what is the width front to back and side to side of the opening. I will compare the numbers with the one I have without heat.

Interesting. The non heat console is 4.25" x 10.5" inside dimensions. That would mean the entire console including the lid is totally different. Are you sure the width is only 3"? My cup holders are 3" inside diameter and need to be at least that wide to allow the large fast food cups to slide into it. If I make it any smaller than there are a lot of containers that no longer fit. I'm not sure there is any way to make a functional cup holder in that spot if it that shallow and only 3" wide. Is the rear heat the most common option or is that a more rare option? If it's rare then it's probably not worth the hassle of trying to take this project further but if it's the norm and most folks have the rear heat console then it may be worth it to think outside the box and develop something that WILL work in that space.

So I did a little more research and came across this pic. It looks like there are 4 options for the center console on the 1st gen. I see there is the taller one with the padded armrest that appears to come in the Heat and No heat option. there is also the shorter one (which I am working off of) that also seems to come with the heat and no heat options. Are the taller ones with armrests common? Are those on later years and if so, which years? I'm sure I could make a double cup holder for the tall version in either the heat or no heat since that top storage section looks plenty deep. If someone was willing to loan me that top storage part I would make them a double cup holder for free and ship it all back on my dime. My guess is that I should be able to make a double for 3 of the 4 versions. It's the short version with heat that just has zero space.

My '89 SR5 has the tall one. I will send you mine for you to make your prototype. How long do you think you would need it for? PM me your address and I will send it out asap.
I just received the single cup holder from you a couple days ago have not had a chance to install it yet.

So here is the older Gen 1 NON HEAT console double cup holder. It has not been sanded, acetoned, or painted so it's a tad rough. Just off the machine. I will make a very similar one for the taller padded armrest version as well.
