Transmission questions need some advice

Hey all, I am looking at picking up another 4R as a rig for the old lady. I found one that needs a tranny at a really good price. Its a 90' with the 3.0 V6 and the A340H automatic tranny. The tranny is bad, can anyone tell me what the compatible transmissions are? What would you do replace or rebuild? Do others bolt up? Also, she is firm on not wheeling a manual. So auto it has to be.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help and input!!

That's a shame because the R150 is decent transmission. The 3vze is a weak slug of an engine and an auto tranny doesn't help it. You should be able to go to a salvage yard and find a running trans out of a close year model (89-95). Or maybe ask around on the classifieds here, I'm sure there's someone swapping out their A340H for something else who would give it to you for a fair price. You could rebuild, but if you don't know too much about that type of transmission you're probably just better off getting a used one off of someone else.

I guess, for as inexpensive as re-man factory trans units are, I'd opt for that option. This way, you never touch it again. With most manufacturers, "re-man" is effective new. They need a high spec of part to keep warranty costs down. If your installing it, you've probably saved quite a bit, right there. Depends on how long your keeping it.
With under 100k, our A340H has been reliable, but they like clean, high quality ATF.
regards
