Can you post some pictures of the frame parts on the newer one that caused it to be fatal? Would be beneficial to the future searchers to see where to look when doing a PPI. Thanks.
You ever get your axles figured out? Since you have a ton of 1st gen stuff, why not just build them up? Straight axles from '84 would be best, as they have the support brackets welded in from the factory, and I would not worry about snapping axles at all if you run Longfield's Superaxles. You will not break them, and if you somehow did, Bobby has a lifetime warranty on them, free replacement if you do! Chances are, you'll break the diff or transfer case before you ever hurt those axles.
And that's some nasty scaling on that frame! I gotta see how it looks once you sandblast it. Hopefully it doesn't blow through when you clean it up.

Yup I'm running the Toyota mini truck axles I'm using the Marlin crawler conversion plate to put a top shift gear drive t case mounting to the A340 that is on the 3.4l set up so it will make it drivers drop and gear driven.
Unfortunately Bobby Long is not around anymore and Trail Gear bought the Longfield brand. Longfield axles are now basically "rebranded" dirty 30's. Go with RCV, they are the same as the original Longfield birfs.

Hell guys with Cummings swaps will run the dirty thirtys until they switch to tons or unimog axles. Of course most intelligent off-roading guys know you don't need 44" tires to do anything anymore. 36" and 37" are more common now.
Update. Waiting on Marlin crawler to produce some tcase adapter plates for the a340 to accept a top shift gear drive tcase. I can't machine one for the cost of what they sell them for.
the second frame just was sent out and as soon as that's back its time to make the custom mounts to bolt a 3rd gen body to it and modified steering system.
Not yet, I got really busy with work building a brand-new house top to bottom so absolutely no time for fun. It will be July before I get some time to actually work on the trucks
