Driver side door locked

Hi,

I tried the search, but I didn't find what I was looking for.

Yesterday the drivers side door of my 1991 4-runner wouldn't stay closed, the lock just didn't pick and the door slammed right open again.
It was late, it was dark, I probably locked the door by pushing the door-lock button and slammed the door shut.
It stayed shut alright, now I cant open it anymore.
I can't even pull the door-lock button up again, it stays down.
The key won't do it, as well as the central door lock button.

Of course I can try to get to the inside of the door, but it's freezing -20 Celsius outside now, so it would be nice if I know what I need to do to fix this.

Did someone else had a problem like this before?

my 87 passenger door does this sometimes.
start with some silicone spray, in the key hole, the pull knob, and push the spray straw in the door jam and give it a soak from inside and out.
work the key like you are trying to pick it, helps to have a new cut copy key, they somehow work better. don't break the key off. keep working it, it may help to have someone on the inside pulling the knob while you work the key.
thump the door around the outside handle while you work the key.

Thanks MacGyver

My daughter was playing with the central lock button on her side this afternoon and suddenly my lock just popped up... I love it when a car fixes itself.
(I was afraid I had broken something when I slammed the door shut with the lock down).
But I will take your advise and spray some silicone in it.

And use lock lube, it will not dry out like regular lube, it will also work better in sub-zero temps.

Stuff is made with graphite, this is the one I've used for many years, and the can still isn't empty!
