1986 T4R For Sale
Wanted to get your guys opinion on this T4R in Colorado. I had an 88 4runner that I ended up parting out a few years back and I'm back in the market for another one.
Turbo 4runner trade
It seems like it might be overpriced at $5000? What do you all think?

$5K for a turbo model seems decent. I'd find out about rust, first and foremost, considering the location. There was one for sale in FL for $4.5 in better cond. It all comes down to your location and preference I think.
GLW your search!

Thanks HiLuxer. He seems to be pretty firm on it but considering the condition of the paint and all that I figured it was priced way to high but it is the Turbo which I rarely see around here in CO.

The turbo commands a higher price because it's rare, but it's really not all that. Don't buy that truck thinking you'll have a race truck.

No problem man. If you're looking for a 84-89 Runner, yotatech.com is your best bet since it tends to be more selections over there.

Turbo is rare but like kid said it's worthless.
A mint condition turbo truck is only worth 10k so his I wouldn't pay a dime over 3500

There is a Colorado based Facebook page, Budget Built Crawlers or something like that I am pretty sure had that truck pass through a few hands.

Hey thanks everybody for your responses. Glad a couple of you mentioned that the Turbos aren't "all that" because I was thinking maybe they would be worth the extra price to get that extra power.
Definitely going to check out Yotatech too because it's slim pickems on Craigslist right now.

I have an 87' Turbo and like everyone has said, it isn't THAT much difference in power. Sure it's rare and cool, but it also only came with an auto trans in the 4Runner. I've swapped mine out with a 5spd from Marlincrawler, but unless you wan't to do quite a bid of work you are stuck with a SUPER power-robbing automatic. Now once you go 5spd with the Turbo, it is actually quite a bid faster than a normal 22re and even the 3.0L's I've driven.

He's telling me he already has an offer at $4700. Hard to believe but oh well. I think I'll let this one pass.

Yeah, sucks that Toyota took the trouble to put a turbo in only fo the automatic to negate the benefit.
My 1986 dlx next to a 1986 Turbo I passed by on a a trip

Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.
