I hope your 4R is soon on the road again.
Good luck with the rebuild!

So you have an 87, and thus you are in luck with getting those steel coolant/heater hoses although they are pricey. But do it once while everything it out and you've got another 35 years in them. OEM's are still available for all 4 of the steel hoses. The 1985 #1 bypass is discontinued for 1985's (but you can convert to the 86+ one for all you 85'ers).

Two of them (#7 and #1 - will run you ~$125) are located in the "Engine/Fuel/Tool > Radiator & Water Outlet" section of the parts diagram from toyotapartsdeal.com:

#1 and #7 steel coolant hoses

The other two sit in the "Electrical -> Heater & Air Conditioning - Water Pipes" section of the parts diagram and are also still available (Heater Water Inlet, A and Heater Water Outlet, A) and can be had for ~$125 as well:

Heater Water Inlet/Outlet A

These are also available at 22reperformance.com with a slight markup, but you can also see actual pictures to confirm. Note the #'s at 22reperformance do not line up with the factory numbers for these steel hoses.

If you're looking to replace all the rubber hoses, save yourself the pain I went through of tracking down all 3014 coolant hoses and go here:

84-88 EFI Complete Coolant Hose Kit 22RE Toyota Pickup

You mentioned bolts as well. Use a combination of PartSouq for interactive parts diagrams and ToyotaPartsDeal.com to purchase them. It's tedious but you'll be able to get brand new bolts, washers, etc and they aren't expensive at all.

Since I'm basically replacing all rusty, original parts on my 1985, I've got parts searching down to a science ... hope this helps.

Truck has been down since my engine failure but got some good news. The engine swap is finally happening! I picked up a donor at Copart, 99 5spd with elocker and outstanding service history. Ive been busy stripping it and cleaning up the first gen but hope to have this thing running within a month or so!

Also working on doing some maintenance on the engine and cleaning it up as well. Timing belt, water pump, idle bearing and all the other stuff was just done about 20k miles ago. This thing started right up when i got it home and ran very good!

Been busy on this thing

Mounted my ballistic fab battery box, painted engine bay and put down some heat shielding. Been cleaning parts like crazy before I put them back on.

Also if you didn’t know the wiper motor from the 3rd gen is a direct replacement. The plug is the same even the grommet on the back. It’s nice having a parts truck!

My 1987 build..."Achillies"

I also designed a replacement dash panel for factory switches. If you don’t have power mirrors like me you have this useless cubbie hole. I don’t like the look of aftermarket switches so I’m going to repurpose a factory deck lamp switch for rock lights or light bar. I will also mount my diff lock switch here.

It still needs to be finished but the switches fit perfectly and it snaps into place on the dash like the factory piece did!

Engine looks awesome!

What is the heat shielding on the firewall?

Nice 3D printed switch bezel!

Thanks!

Shielding is DEI floor and tunnel shield. I finished the edges and seams with DEI high temp tape
