So I did a thread a while back about my 1995 4Runner 3.0 V6 2wd auto. Let me just give you the history of my baby:
I bought it last August from a local State trooper, claiming it had a rebuilt motor (no documentation but I thought they, law enforcement, why wouldn't I trust him?) Had 236k miles on it, immaculate for its age. Minor tear on driver seat, little bumper damage on the driver side but nothing too major. So I buy it, and after a week it breaks down on me. Ended up replacing the radiator, thermostat, and all the vacuum hoses, thinking it would fix the problem. Turns out that the guy sold us the car with a blown head gasket and all he did was put a bunch of stop-leak in the engine.
Push comes to shove, I get all the heads milled, replaced the air intake boot, replace valve cover gaskets and all the injector seals.
Had a tough time getting it to start cold so I did a cold start injector switch bypass until I can find a Toyota original switch. Everything has been running fine up until a couple of weeks ago....
I start noticing that as the engine gets warmer and warmer, it becomes increasingly difficult to start it, until it won't start AT ALL. Start it up cold, fine. Drive to school 20 minutes, turn it off then on again 2 hours later, fine. But once it gets warmed up and I turn it off and on again, it'll crank, die, then it'll just turn over or "click" but it won't "catch."
I've thought of everything in the world what could be wrong, and I cannot think of it. I've seen similar, not exact cases where the starter was bad? Or maybe the starter relay? And I've also seen where it was as simple as the fuel filter.
Do I need to start small and work my way up or is there a definite reason why it is doing what it is? Help!!!!!
