rattling noise
My suspension rattles like nobody's business when I go over little bumps or potholes. It all started last year when I had my brakes done at Les Schwab. They replaced the rotors and everything. Shortly after that my '92 4runner starting shimmying while cruising and braking. And then it started with the suspension rattle. It also made a ticking noise that corresponded to the wheel rotation but that went away when the brake pedal was pressed. It got so bad that I thought my wheel was going to fall off when going around corners. I took it back to Les Schwab. The guy couldn't find anything wrong. He turned the brakes on the vehicle and that seemed to take away the vibration/shimmy. He also said that there was a bushing missing from the top of one of the shocks and that was causing all the noise. I didn't know if I bought that explanation, but the noise went away while another one showed up. Now when you first push the pedal you can hear the brakes engage, and it makes kind of a slight clunking noise. Well, eventually the rattling noise came back and so did the clicking noise. I took it back to Les Schwab and they spent several hours on it, and they said there was nothing wrong with my brakes. They said that my idler arm needs replacing and tried to say that the rattling is road noise caused by suspension parts. So nothing was fixed, and after they worked on it the vibration is back. What the crap?! I know that the problems I am having show a direct correlation to Les Schwab working on my truck. I didn't have these problems before taking it in to them. I'm tired of wasting my time with these people, and I want to be able to tell them what's up. Can anybody shed some light on this?
