Thanks! I have done a lot of work to her. Your truck is nice too. I have owned several solid axle runners. It's hard to find them not all rotted out. If I don't sell my truck I will do a SAS conversion.

Nice looking rig. BTW what kind of roof rack are you running on it? Can you send me some pics of how you have it installed? Thanks.

i cant recall the exact name of the rack... and its too dark and cold outside for me to check at the moment.

its bolted right only the removable top... ill take pictures of its setup. it has no "floor", just 2 flat beams going across where the bolts go through. so whatever you put up there would essentially be sitting on the top of the car.

theres a sticker on there with info but i believe the co. is out of businesss... because its in my own city but the address that is listed is one im fairly familiar with and there is no building there that would house a business as far as i recall. anyways... ill take and post the pictures soon.

thanks for the compliments guys.

i have in fact not owned it very long. coming up on 3 months now. she had 103,000 when purchased and has about 105,500 now. runs very well (never driven other 4runners, cant give total comparison) but i have NO LEAKS! coming from an 88 BMW 3series thats definitely something im still excited over.

anyways, here are some more pictures of the rack and how its attached:

^ as you can see the rack is from Con Ferr who are no longer in busines. more info can be read here: http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/ar...hp/t-6669.html

Thanks for those pics. I was thinking of bolting mine directly to the topper too. Can you take a pic of the inside of the headliner that shows the bolts going through? Thanks again.

Picked this guy up over the summer, put a good amount of work into it, It was leaking oil and coolant in every spot possible.
Got it patched up and its running now, but I'm waiting to drop in our newly rebuit 22RE in. Tough as nails.

Back to me 4runner

I posted a long thread on yotatech about this 4runner here:

http://www.yotatech.com/f115/anyone-...rs-ago-119933/

Long story short, I sold it over 11 years ago when I lived in Dallas, TX and I found it on Yotatech in Minneapolis so I flew up from Austin and I bought it back. Here she is..

austintaco: killer story. great looking car. what kind of a soft-top is that? if you still have it/use it how does it stack up?

^forgot to get back to you on this. i looked inside and there are no bolts going through. im not sure how much space the hard top has between the interior and the exterior of itself but it seems like the bolts are sitting in that specific gap.

i did also notice that of the 3 beams (i made a mistake earlier and said there were 2) that go accross the 2 bolts for the ones that are closest to the front of the car have no hold. i can lift the front end of the rack and they go in and out of their holes. im not sure why this has occured. probably due to time and elements but im also certain that its the main culprit for some water getting onto my carpet after some of the local rains. im tempted to just seal it up around the bolts but i know that if i put load on it in the future it will break the seal so ill have to figure something out.

That is a Kayline soft top and Downey sells them. I had one and it was OK but you have to drill some holes in the body to install it which I really didn't care for. Also the side panels don't stay rolled up at freeway speeds. My next one will be a Canback for sure.

By the way that is a really nice looking 85 4runner, I have never seen that color before, I like it a lot! It looks to be in real good shape.

Yeah, its a kayline. The previous owner installed it, and we had to uninstall it for the trip home. Its back on now though.

I usually drive around with the sides and back rolled up and I haven't had that problem, but I am not on the freeway that often.

I just broke off one of the tension straps two days ago, so hopefully, I can get that sewn back on.
I have also never been able to get all the snaps snapped. There's always two in the back, at the corners that are undone. Other than that, it works well for me.
