Took my girl to Texas Toyota Jamboree last weekend. Had a blast!! I saw a lot of 1st Gen's, but wasn't quick enough with my camera. Barnwell, TX. is either a dust bowl or a mud bog. Last weekend was the dust bowl variety.

1st Gen 1 ton small block monster
Hey y’all. First time forum poster. Just wanted to share my beast.
Running gear:
350 carbureted small block with mild cam and headers
Turbo 400 tranny
Twin stick np205 transfer case
Dana 60 front 4.88 gears and locker
Corporate 14 bolt rear with disc brake conversion 4.88 gears and locker
Radiator located in the bed with duel electric fans
39.5/18-15 boggers
Couple things I need to complete.
Needs heating system. No defrost
Need to change out door locks since I have no key
Want to install a lock box inside cab with a fuse system that will eliminate ggs chance of the vehicle being stolen

I've been dormant on this site for quite a few years now. Used to have a 2018 FJ Cruiser, then a 1988 4Runner, then a 2014 4Runner and now, since March of this year (2022), I've had this 1987 4Runner. Super happy to be back in a 1st gen 4Runner! No, this is not my daily. I have a company vehicle. But this sure is a fun hobby vehicle and with my kids being 4 and 1.5 years, I'm excited to share a mechanical hobby with them as they grow up. It's very clean, someone cared for it for the most part. Although it's definitely had a few hacks working on it at times...
Here goes some pics:
When I bought it, it had this large basket rack on it. Not sure who fabbed this thing up but I thought it looked great.
Recently, I removed the rack. Holy cow was it heavy. I will likely put it back on at some point. Need to track down a leak between the removable top and back of cab. Once that's resolved, I'll probably put the rack back on.

It looks awesome with or without that crazy rack.
