Hi! Sorry in advance for my poor english!
So, my 1991 Toyota 4runner 2,4td has been leaking some diesel. Last weekend i removed the lid on the diesel pump, and replaced the oring on the throtle axle and the gasket between the lid and fuel-pump. The leakage stoped and I were happy as never before!
I Changed on the engine (since it had beed about 7000 km since last time) and drove the car for about an hour when the rpm meter started jumping like crazy. Just seconds after the engine started reving by itself and the car went balistic. I turned the ignition and pulled over. I tried to start the engine a couple of times with similar result. After about 6 tries the engine started and acted normal on idle rmp but i was anoly allowed to rev it to about 1500 rmp (I Think. The rmp meter has kind of locked at vertical position. Even if I turn the igition off.). I managed to get back to my garage and removed the lid to the fuel-pump. Everything seemed to be ok there, but in the diesel-return pipe, there was alot of small black rubber-ish pieced.
I Thought it was a bad fuel-hose and replaced them all.
After a bit of cleaning, i tried to start it up again. The engine starts fine, but will still only rev to about 1500.
Then I removed the turbo. It has some slack and the tube from the suction side has some oil in it. I dont know how much oil and slack is acceptable.
I thought the poor turbo might explain the strange revolution-incidents, but I can not understand why the diesel-return would contain the black stuff and why the rpm meter would go nuts.
The car onlys has 148000 km on the clock, but has not been driven alot the last couple years. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
