Beautiful gen 2. Having a 5.3 in one would be like a dream come true. Don’t have the experience or knowledge to do that kind of swap or really any swap yet so I’ll be watching this build close to learn a thing or two. I’ve got pretty good basics but I would appreciate whatever details you can spare. Electrical is really the weakness.

I’ve been around since your last build I followed. Was lurking quite a bit just reading and learning as much as I could.
Meanwhile I’ll be over here with my 90hp and all its glory haha

Ok, so some updates. One huge negative was I lost my dad on the 14th of last month. Everything stopped in the shop. I was in a bad place for a few weeks, but I’m getting back to normal little by little.
I did end up with another 4runner. The gray one runs really good now. I’ve been driving it all over. I wanted one with better interior and since the 95s are missing some features the previous ones had, I decided to pick up this 93. It’s more suited to what I want. No third brake light, no roof rack, interior is mint and everything worked except the back window. I fixed it with a new window motor.
The engine is blown but don’t care. Picked this one up for $500.
If anyone is wondering, left side door window motors work in the tailgate. You’re welcome.
Started pulling the bumpers and running boards off.
Got the 60 and 14 bolt in the garage.
Things are coming along again.

I am sorry and saddened for your loss. I lost my Dad 3 years ago, i miss him terribly. That 93 is minty fresh, looking forward to this build.

Sorry about your loss.It is good to hear that you are getting back to normal.
I think that maybe you learned your fabrication skills from your dad. If so, he taught you alot.

My dad wasn’t a fabricator or mechanic. He did encourage me to persue it though. Everyone tells me that I got all this from my grandpa smith.
I did some cleanup and tear down of the front end. Insides look good and it’s a factory 4.10 axle.

Well more pieces are coming in. This is a 5.3 out of a Tahoe. I’m going to put a cam in it and run it. Trans and t-case aren’t needed. Going to sell those. Need to find a NV4500 and pony up for the atlas 4spd.
Almost time to start cutting and welding!

Came home, it’s nice out, decided to clean the engine bay up before the torch work begins.

Nice! Exact same axles I'd go with for a 1 ton swap. Great choice on the transfer case too
Curious if you are planning to shave the 14 bolt? Also how wide is the 14 bolt?

Yes, I’m shaving it with TMR’s shave kit that shaves the ring gear. The 14 bolt is 67” wms-wms

Awesome, thanks!
Any concerns with road use? I've tried to research some info about a shaved 14 bolt and road use but didn't have much luck. It seems like the shave kit doesn't takes that much oil out of the diff.
