Yet another 1 ton build!
With another build! Curious to see who’s still around from the old days.
This is the new ‘95. I just rebuild the top end on the 3vz. I bought it not running. Although it wouldn’t be me without a v8. This one is getting a cammed 5.3l ls engine to a nv4500 to an atlas4. It’s also getting the 1 ton treatment (60/14bolt). This ones gonna be low though...
Right now I’ve been working on electrical. For some reason I remember the map lights coming on when the door opens on my previous 4runners. Can someone verify this?
The rear door glass only went down with the key. Found the front console switch all gunked up. Took it apart and cleaned the contacts. Fixed.
Dome lights weren’t working. Bad contacts in the switch part of the dome light. Fixed.
Damn near every interior bulb was blown. Replaced. Even the little tiny bastards in the a/c button and rear window switch.
I already got all the solid axle conversion from and rear from sky off-road. Doing 63s out back and up in the air between waggy springs or Toyota rears up front. Figured I’d start with the rear to give me some thinking time.
It’s been quite some time guys. Let’s see how this one turns out!

I've been thinking about a video swap for my 95. The 5.3l sounds perfect. Sub'd!

BTW, the map lights on my 1994 T4R do come on when I open the door and I assume that's the way it should be.

My '95 didn't have the map lights coming on. It's the light fixture itself. I swapped in an earlier one from the junkyard. I guess Toyota decided the 95's didn't need to have them come on with the door. Yours probably only has on/off on the switch? The earlier ones have on/off/door.

X2 - door lights/mid-ship dome lights with door opening. Looks like a great build, long live 95s!

Thanks guys. I dug into the map light wiring and it is a ‘95 deal where they don’t come on with the door. Oh well, I may try to snag an older one and wire it in if it bothers me to much.
Ive been driving it here and there and I’m surprised every single thing work! She is definitely not a looker but she seems pretty sound.
I ordered the marlin crawler shifter rebuild stuff. 1st just barely hangs in there driving around. Since I’m not doing the v8 conversion right away, I’m going to try to make it last as long as needed.
Hopefully this weekend ill get the rear suspension cut out and get the 14 bolt under it.

Mine has two wires and two buttons with a switch. I wonder if you can swap them over?
