Starter rebuild kit 3.0/auto

If anyone has part #s and recommended place to get them, other than Toyota, I'd appreciate it. My '90 has original starter, probably won't last forever.

You can get the plunger/contact kits on the cheap from amazon. About 10 dollars when I did mine.

Why not get them from the dealer? The starter on my truck is original from 87 with 230k miles. You can bet when and if it goes, I'll be putting another toyota starter in this truck. Think you'll get 30 years from an ebay starter?

Even when these starters fail, the serviceable parts are inexpensive. The “clunk” sound you get when you turn the key and the truck doesn’t start is probably because the plunger stops hitting both contacts because of uneven wear to one of them. Easy fix. There’s usually no need to replace the entire starter.

Toyota even sells or sold these parts separately at one time, but for what they are and what they do, I don’t see a need for them to come from Toyota at a cost you can get about 5 generic/Denso kits for.
