3vze rebuild in process

Hello,

Im currently rebuilding the engine, i bought a junk yard engine because my other one needed some serious machine work to get going again, plus an overhall of the pistons plus crankbearings etc.

Right now im trying to figure out how to pin the ac compressor bracket into the engine. Does it bolt onto the same bolt hole as the engine bracket, the reason im confused is because the bolt i got from my old engine is not deep enough to thread into position, but it seems to be the only logical way to put the bracket on.

Anyways, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Leaving on a 14 day trip tomorrow im sure my roommates are happy about the state of the garage. Haha.

I just replaced my compressor so maybe these pictures will help. There’s 3 bolts on the side of the block, one of which also holds the main ground strap behind the compressor bracket bolt, and two at the front of the block. The easiest thing to do in your case is probably to line up the two front bolts and then the other three will be lined up. Keep in mind that they are different length bolts for some of the holes.

Wish I could be of more help, but good luck with the rebuild. I was trying to decide to do this to my old 4runner but I felt it was more cost effective to get another truck and start from that platform.

All the best.

Does anyone have any pictures of the 5vze wiring harness going into a 3.0 94 4runner?

I am struggling with the transmission connectors. I am using a 94 4wd 3.0 4runner and putting in a 98 3.4 5vze and 5vze ecu and wiring harness. I have read all the builds but cant find a diagram or pic of the harness up to the transmission.

Just a word of warning: if you didn't already know, the block and upper half differ from 90-92 and 93-95. If your's is older, the rebuild will go differently.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread - I just purchased a '95 4Runner for my son. It's a project - the guy we bought it from tore the cylinder heads off and then quit on the repair. We got the short block out and it's at the machine shop now. To the point, my question is how easy is it to put that motor back in as a fully dressed long block with the back cross over exhaust pipe in the way? I could put it back together in the order we took it apart but I would rather assemble as much of it as I can on the engine stand and drop it back in. That cross over exhaust pipe look to make it precarious to get those top bell housing bolts back in. Looking to experienced 3VZE users for guidance - thanks!

DT header Upgrade

Pitch the OEM exhaust and put a Doug Thorley Header on it. That is what I did and it makes the assembly much easier when it is bellhousing to engine joining time.
