my photos are inserted via the "attach image" icon, and the photos are hosted on a different site, instead of uploaded attachments to this site.

Also painted some parts to make it look a little cleaner. Runs very smooth now and nothing leaks!

your truck is an 84 right? seems like you might have an earlier engine in your truck based on your sloped valve cover. the 84 I had that I bought back in 1990 had the later valve cover

I've noticed that too when I started looking at other 22rs. However I would not know how to check and see for sure. It could just have the earlier valve cover.

slowly but surely

Made some progress on the spare tire carrier retrofit. Cut off the old brackets off the carrier, and started to make the new brackets. Made the plates that are going to be on the outside 1/4' thick and have the plates on the inside be 3/8" along with the hinges. Also going to add internal gussets inside the taillight housing to help reduce stress on the sheet metal. Not much material was made, but I think Ive got the whole thing planned out now.

more progress

Got some more progress done for the tire carrier. Went back to the pick a part and got the latch mechanism fro the carrier along with all of the brackets since someone already snagged them when I went to get the carrier the first time.

Even got the little button to show when the carrier is open or not, might wire it to a little idiot light on the dash.

As far as the brackets, bent up the outside plates and came up with a design for the hinges. Should hopefully have these welded up by the end of the week!

starting to look like something

Hey guys! made some more progress on the tire carrier recently. Cut out what will be the top and bottom hinges and drilled the pivot point for them. Now just have to clearance them a little bit and weld them up! This is actually starting to look like something!

Well between work and going back to school, I have not had much time to work on the 4runner. However I have done some things. I welded up the brackets and am in the process of just cleaning them up. They look pretty good if you ask me . Hopefully will have the other cleaned up by this weekend then plan to make the backing plates and drill the holes in the sheet metal. On different news, I had the "oil" idiot light come on, but oil level was fine, so figured pressure was low. Long story short, I put in thicker oil and it solved my burning oil and low oil pressure problem. Feel like an idiot. Thing is running like a top.
