1st gen rear bumper options

What's everyone running for a rear bumper on your 1st gens? I'm obviously not going to find a factory replacement anytime soon... so what are my after market options? No bumper is not an option for me, though I don't mind the look. Prefer as close to stock looking as possible.

If you want a stock looking one you might as well go to junk yards or find someone parting a rig out. However there are plenty of after market tube bumper option's for bumper's if you have the wallet.

If you want an aftermarket there's quite a few. Just do a Google search. Addicted Offroad etc. all make them for 1st Gen or you can find a local fab guy. Tube bumpers are fairly easy to make. Smittybuilt made a front tube bumper for these. There was one here in CO locally for $50 recently but I don't think they are being made anymore.

Otherwise junk yard and remember that you can use those from SR5 trucks of these years as well.

Slacker makes replicas of the OEM rear bumper:

I'm hoping to stay original, not really a fan of tube bumpers though there are a couple look good on some rigs. I'm in PA, these bumpers don't exist in junk yards here and if they do they're rusted far beyond repair unfortunately. I have a lead on one from a member on here, hopefully it all works out. If not, I'll take a look at what slacker makes for sure. Thanks guys.

That's awesome! I had no idea you were making those. Your rear 1/4s cost me half the price of my runner to ship to PA lol but they were worth every penny! If the other bumper I found doesn't work out I'll give you a call. Thanks!

Need help finding this bumper

I found this picture of a 1st gen online somewhere and I'm looking to get the same bumper on my project 1st gen. What kind of rear bumper is this? Any help would be appreciated.

Your pic isn't showing up. Many forums don't support image code from Google
Download it, add as an attachment

Edit- it looks like one maybe off a 3rd gen truck . But sorta looks like the one that came stock on my 86 4runner I bought new in 86.

the third gen bumper doesn't have the end-caps like the blue 1st gen. that is likely the original, as the caps blend into the other plastic trim pieces at the lower back edge of the rear quarters.

i think you are correct, that being said, I know i have seen a similar bumper on a 3rd gen truck. No reason they wouldn't be interchangeable

I was able to use the later model 89-95 chrome step bumper on my 86 with modification to the stock step bumper brackets. Cutting and welding required but it’s as close to stock original as you are going to get.
Photo here.
