1985 4runner battery draw...

Ok the new battery in my runner lasted about a week. Meter shows that there is a 10 amp or so draw on the battery. isolating the starter, alternator showed no change in the draw. The 80 amp fuseable link in the under hood fuse block is where the draw has been located. When that lead is disconnected from the Battery, the draw stops. Where do I go from here to find whats killing the battery?

The 80A Fusible Link feeds many circuits.

With your multimeter connected inline and measuring amps, start pulling fuses individually, checking the amp draw after pulling each fuse. If the amp draw goes down significantly, you have found a major source of the amp draw.

Just be careful with your meter; 10 amps is usually the limit for most multimeters and many are not fuse protected at that amp range.

A normal amp draw with the truck turned off should be in the low milliamp range for radio, clock, and ECU memory.

is this a new problem? any work done prior?

im not sure what the amp draw would be, but my rear window switch is worn, along with my key. so you can remove the key while the switch is still in the UP position essentially trying to run the window up the entire time. by morning, the battery was dead.

sadly it took me TWICE to figure out wtf I was doing. I still don't know how the window motor lived. but it still works just fine.
