Interchangeable Seats from 1st gen to 2nd gen 4runners?

hey i was wondering if the 2nd gen 4runner(89.5-95) front seats will directly bolt onto the 1st gen 4runners (84-89). Will it need to come from a 2 door second gen model or can i get front seats from a 4 door? Also will the rear bench seat fit from a 2nd gen 4runner into my 1st gen? Im getting sick of my oldskool seats and want to upgrade.

i am not sure if they will fit, but heres a question. are your seats uncomfortable? i have a 87, and the seats are awsome. in my 1990 they were not this good, and even in my 2000, they arent as comfortable. maybe its just me, but i wondered dif you had checked into it. i wouldnt do it. let me know how it goes though.

to be honest, no my seats are very comfortable. Its just that i was recent told by a buddy of mine that 2nd gen seats will work on 1st gen 4runners so i thought i might ask around here to see if he was right. My seat is showing a little bit of wear but is still really nice (its the SR5 seat). I guess i always figured that the 2nd gen seats would be more comfortable since they are newer.

I definitely know that the front seats are interchangable. I dont think the rear ones are, but try it before you spend your money. I might have a set of 1990s seat by the spring (as well as other parts). I am currently driving my second 89 special edition and I love those seats because the special edition came with a nicer stitch pattern than the SR5 trucks came with, which have a dull gray pattern. I can definitely tell you that the headrests are not interchangable from 1st gen to 2nd gen. Im in Toronto so message me if you need parts at 416-882-4797. Nice truck by the way, I found an 88 from california and Im gonna strip down the SE and make an SE/SR5 hybrid with the parts and paint it silver and grey. Itll look like your, with a 2 inch body lift and 31 inch tires on one inch wider than stock white rally wheels (and maybe one day, 4 inch suspenson lift, with 35s and bushwacker fender flares!)

hey send me some pics of your special edition. Mine is a special edition too, do you know any more information on them? anyways thanks of letting me know of the seats being interchangeable. by the way the headrests that are on my truck right now (not in that picture) are from a 1991 toyota 4runner and they fit perfectly as if they were theyre before. They also almost look exactly the same as my old ones just a different pattern a a little bit bigger. I also switched the center armrest/rear heater console from a 1994 automatic 4runner. The automatic second gens and 1st gens have an interchangable center console. It doesnt exactly match the rest of the paint/style but it fits perfectly and looks a lot better than the older one.
