Removing / replacing front brake rotors questions...

Picked up an 86 22re sr5. It was leaking brake fluid (w/ complete loss of brake power) so checked the rotor. I can't imagine how this kind of damage could have happened. See image

Anyways, onto new rotors and calipers. This is my first time doing this job.

This model has front manual locking hub. I understand I have to remove this. Do I have to disassemble it completely or just unbolt the cover then the assembly and it comes out?

I'll also be replacing the CV half shaft axles since they're shot. Question: should I expect to have to change any seals or oil rings or clips etc?

While I'm there, anything else to look out for?

Here, the only difference are the manual locking hubs on your truck everything else is the same.

thank you very much for the references. spot on! job looks doable! I'm doing it tomorrow morning, along with bearings and axles since they're visibly shot

as for the hub lock nut, i couldn't get my hands on the 54mm in time so i rented a 2 3/8 inch, do you think this would work or too big? if not... i'll just have to try to screw/unscrew it with a wedge and hammer i guess. should be doable?

since i'm there i plan on changing outer bearing and inner bearing and seal.

as well as the axles. i'm using this vid as reference, seems straight forward...
cv axles removal

as for the brake / rotors do i need any other gaskets or seals? there seems to be some gasket between hub / rotor? how essential is it?

as for the axle, is there any bearing, seal, or gasket that should be changed for the axle?

and lastly... can someone direct me to where i can find the torque specs? i found a "standard" bolt torque chart, but can't find the specific tonques in the manual section i'm seeing.

actually now learned more about the hub cap gasket. it doesn't seem to be available at stores

what purpose does it serve?

You can get generic gasket material at most NAPA stores and make your own pretty easily.

Done! Update:

So it was relatively painless... I felt the learning curve on the first side and broke a couple bolts (one off the upper control arm joint and one off the locking hub cap). Other than that, everything worked out pretty good! The second side was a lot easier and faster.

Perhaps the hardest part was unbolting the axle from the transfer case. The magic method to prop up a metal bar to keep it from spinning and then to use a breaker bar.

Also to easily remove the cv axle I removed sway bar, suspension damper and upper ball joint. Jacked up the suspension and the axle slipped right out the back.

Also was good to clean up the hubs and see how they work.

Also I changed the inner and outer wheel bearings.

Woohoo! Now onto my broken chain guides!
