Unhappy Engine issues on diesel....Again *FIXED*

Hey all, I am here again with stupid wierd issue on my truck to share with you. 1991 2l-t is having bad times, its like every half year it goes nuts.

Short version if you are in hury
Reving over 2500 rpm it begin go crazy and lose power, sometimes produce thick blue smoke. Something is broken, that is sure...

Here is long version what is going on
Started today, driving in city everything was okay, then when cruising out of city about 90kph (56mph) it did not want go faster, feel like I was letting of throttle (which I did not obviously) or maybe misfire and boots pressure also change, jumping betwen 10-7 psi. Idk if this eratical pressure is issue or consequence, aka less fuel means less exhaust gases means lest turbo rpm... Increasing throttle did not have any effect at all so I let go of throttle and let it cruise at those 80kph (50mph) then it go okay, no 'misfire' behaviour. Steady rpm, speed, turbo pressure. Now to have it more interesting... Once I did little test. Leave it on fourth gear and went wot to see what would happen. It rev up to 2,5k rpm (little bit slower then normal I would say) and it went nuts again, rpm up and down, pressure too aaand it begin blow blue smoke! That is new When I let off throttle it stop this crazy smoke, rpm dropped and all was fine again. Did one more time with same result. I am puzzled what is wrong this time I am thinking of injection pump like it have issues with not able to deliver fuel at higher rpms AND it developed clicking sound over last 2-3 months (first only when cold, now all the time). Other then IP it could be turbo, but I am not sure if 3-4 psi pressure drop could lead to this loss of power, but bad turbo seal could produce blue smoke screen out of tailpipe Oh and turbine have up/down, left/righ play about 2mm (grabing its end) which is waaaay more then it should be I guess But why is not blow smoke all the time? Only during my wot test, weiiird haha.

Anyway, need take care of few things then I ll leave it to my mechanic to have look at it and see what is wrong. He could also take care of front bearing and rear shocks, both things I cant do on my own.
So here it goes, my broken diesel, again. Just to share with you how much 'fun' I have with my 4R. Feel like I should make my own thread about my almost always broken truck...

More thougths: After half day with friend Google, I suspect it is feed pump failure. Rotor have small metal thingies that could make that clicking / ticking sound and feed pump failure could result in not able to supply enought fuel at higher rpm. And for smoke? It could be white smoke after all (I watched road more, not cloud behind ) , white smoke from incomplete diesel combustion due to lack of fuel.
Hmm...

Thumbs down

UPDATE
I went to my friend's garage to se what's what. After listening to engine (and its clicking noise) and exhaust and looks for smoke, he said its most likely faulty injector. We went over symptoms and he explained and now it kinds of makes a sense. My theory about feed pump going bad is wrong since that would make truck starting hard. That is not true since it start almost immediately after engine start to move. Clicking noise is faulty inject more or less. Lack of power at higher rpm is simply because bad injector is not able keep up with this engine speed this one of cylinder is not firing, aka running with only three cylinders. Smoke is result of bad combustion due to lack of fuel or bad spray pattern. I ll be leaving truck at his garage in next week or so, they ll take out injectors and test them to see which one is bad. IF some if bad. Hopefully it is, since it is quick and cheap repair. At least compare to injection pump rebuild...

Final Update

After almost one month got my truck back. It turns out that all four injectors were bad. All of them were leaking (dripping), two of them severely, spray pattern was less then optimal also. New nozzle and injector needle fix all problems with them. Engine now runs smoother and quieter with less 'diesel knock'. Noticeable better starts, throttle response and overall performance also less smoke.

I am quite happy with results.
